J has been working on fixing up a little inflatable boat that he found on Craigs List. He made a little motor mount for a trolling motor that moves us along pretty well. Last Monday was our first trip out on it. We drove 10 minutes down the road to Lacamas Lake where we blew up the boat and set out for a quick 20 minute test run. I caught a little brown trout on my first cast and one more just as it got dark and we headed back in. It was so much fun.

We went back out on Saturday. There were probably 20 boats on the lake, no surprise, it was 95ยบ. People were crazy. I actually saw a jet ski hit an inner-tube. 5 people went flying in the air, but no one was hurt. Needles to say I was not too sure about being there on a Saturday, and less sure when the ski boats zoomed right by splashing us with their waves, but once we got up to where Lacamas Creek meanders into the lake we were the only people around and all my favorite fishing elements were there. Fish, nature, and quiet. Needles to say, it was beautiful.

I only caught 2 tiny bass, but it was still lots of fun.

I wish I had brought the camera with so I could get some good pictures instead of these cell phone pictures. We meandered up the creek enjoying the wildlife. We enjoyed watching the osprey dive for fish and circle the lake. We also saw lots of ducks. One mommy duck had about 25 ducklings with her. We also saw some herons, bats, and even an owl that watched us for a while.

We stayed out as long as we could enjoying the cool evening on the creek. The sunset came all too soon, but it was neat to watch the moon rise over the lake.

Our first two outings on our new little boat were defiantly a success.
