Life is full of extraordinary things. This blog is my way to share how I have seen them, either through word, or more often, picture. Do you ever wonder what the world has in store, or what life might bring to you next?
Shad Fishing at Bonneville Dam
Today we finally got a little cloud brake and J and I took advantage of it and drove the 20 some miles out to the Bonneville Dam to go Shad Fishing. It was beautiful out, and as tired of the rain as I am, I have to say everything is amazingly green out.
J caught the first fish. I had the camera handy so this is what his face looks like while he reals in a fish. I love that kind of happy!

This was his first one, it was the smallest fish of the day. As you can see the fish bled a little, but was fine. It sat in the water for a minute then slowly swam a little way off. Right after it disappeared into the water about 3 feet from J a small Sturgeon (about 6-8 feet long) surfaced and made quite a splash right where the Shad had disappeared at. We think it smelled the blood and came up and ate it. It was neat to see it so close. J is going Sturgeon fishing with his dad and brother end of the week, so I think this got him a little excited to catch one of those big guys.
This was my first catch of the day... Still not sure how I snagged this.
My fish
This osprey was hovering right over me watching me fish. I was actually afraid to catch something figuring it would try to take it from me. I put my pole down, picked up my camera, and we just watched each other. You can see he even has his head cocked checking me out.

I wish I had a better camera to catch this shot. There was vetch covering this hill and the starling were all over it, eating bugs I am guessing. The dark clouds moving in behind this emerald green hill that was covered with bright purple vetch and lupine, along with the birds swooping and diving, was really quite an image.

He Makes Me Laugh
J has been sick for over a week now, and I have been fighting it a day at a time. This evening I think we reach a point where we are so sick of being sick it is becoming funny.
