Several things motivate me to write this post. One, is that I was watching a Seinfeld episode and realized it really was a show about nothing, but that it investigates many lesser know parts of peoples lives. Also, it made me realize I really have had a "variety" of jobs because I could relate to something so obscure. And the second thing that motivates me to write this is, about a month ago an acquaintance and I at work were waiting around for someone, and to pass the time we had a friendly banter on who has had the strangest jobs....I won. Is that a good thing??? (Her best was hot air balloon chasing) For anyone wondering here are a list of SOME fun and not-so-fun jobs requirements I have had. Not all of them were strange, but if you look at the over all list, I think you will agree it is quite an assortment.1) scooping ice cream
2) leading trail rides
3) laundry service
4) cleaning dorm rooms (but mostly just scraping floor wax off with razor blade)
5) locking doors and watching TV (good old university job)
6) librarian
7) quickie mart checker
8) cleaning and shipping copper garden art
9) dumpster diving in the local newspapers recycle bin (it was clean...just news print!) for reusable paper in which to ship the before said garden art
And my current number 10) "Professional Patient Simulator" or also known as a "Standardized Patient"
Yes that is the title. What do I do? I work for Western States Chiropractic Collage and I am given a script that describes a specific ailment. I go in and play 20 questions for 30 to 50 minutes while the student practices taking a medical history. Then they examine the area (neck, wrist, etc.) and the students then has to write up a diagnosis and treatment plan. Is this for real you may be asking? Yes it is very real, and some of the people I work with unfortunately take it very seriously. Personally, pretending to be sick and being paid for it is just still somehow wrong in my mind, but hey they pay well and I am learning a lot! Still don't believe me that this is my real job? Watch Seinfeld season 9 episode 16. Now the disease Kramer pretends to have is not so funny, and luckily the ones I "have" are chiropractic related and never that personal. But to quote Jerry, "do all medical schools do this?" Kramer: "Well all the good ones do!"

So I guess what this list shows is that I am well rounded, but don't have a four year degree.
Oh, and if anyone one is wondering why on Earth a classy gal like me would even take some of those jobs... four words...NO STUDENT LOANS BABY!
